Description
‘Tapestry’ refers to this particular technique in glass fusing and is a favourite technique of mine.
This shallow dish, 30cm x 20 cm with a satisfyingly curvy edge, is crafted in greens, reds and golds reminiscent of an autumn hedgerow. The small pieces of coloured glass appear to weave in and out of the piece, a 3 dimensional optical illusion, created by the painstaking processes of cutting & fusing repeatedly. The final part of the process is ‘slumping’ (shaping). And at each stage the glass is fully annealed.
This technique is not a quick one, but the outcome is amazing and the final result is absolutely unique.
This piece of ‘functional art’ can be used and is entirely food safe: Wash in warm soapy water and buff with a soft cloth. Or display it as a fabulous artwork on a console or table – as always with glass – where the light can interplay.
Carefully (very carefully) packaged (using recycled packaging when possible) and despatched by Royal Mail 24.
